Hybrid inks for 3D printing of tall BaTiO3-based ceramics

Ink formulation is one of the main challenges with ceramic 3D printing. Here, we present a new, reactive-colloidal hybrid ink for printing by robocasting BaTiO3-based ceramics. The combines titanium isopropoxide-based sol-gel base colloidal dispersion powder, here demonstrated BaTiO3 both as (by reaction isopropoxide and barium oxide) addition powder) parts. Addition glycerol was necessary to avoid fast precipitation poor from BaO Ti-isopropoxide. With solid loading 40 ​vol% BaTiO3, 10 ​mm tall structures could be printed minimal deformation slumping. shows good piezo-, ferro- dielectric properties after sintering, piezoelectric charge coefficient (d33 ​= ​159 ​pC/N) in range commonly reported BaTiO3. inks developed this work are therefore suitable electroceramics.
